Symptoms
Older leaves shows interveinal chlorosis and subsequent necrotic blotches.
A diffuse dark/purple mottling between the leaf veins and along the leaf margin may also be observed. Some necrotic, sunken spots occur within the affected tissue. Older leaves fall off prematurely. Plant growth, flowering and fruiting are severely stunted.
Reasons
Phosphorus deficiency.
The highest demand for P occurs in early growth stages.

Phosphorus deficiency made worse by
Acidic or very alkaline (calcareaus) soils
Low organic matter
Cold or wet conditions
Crops with a poorly developed root system
Soils with low P reserves
Soils with a high phosphate capacity
Iron rich soils
Phosphorus is important for
Ensuring good start and continued growth for high yield
Increases fruit set, fruit development and early maturity
Yara recommended fertilizers for Phosphorus
